Aircraft ferry services for owner-authorized aircraft movements

AFS reviews ferry, delivery, relocation, and repositioning requests across purchase, relocation, maintenance, broker/dealer, owner-assist, international, and special flight permit scenarios. Each service path has different documentation, insurance, handoff, route, and timing considerations.

Service Overview

Start with the reason the aircraft needs to move

Aircraft ferry services are easier to understand when the mission is grouped by the reason for movement. A newly purchased aircraft, an aircraft leaving a maintenance shop, and an international repositioning mission may all involve aircraft delivery, but each one has different coordination points.

Use the service categories below to learn what makes each type of movement different, then use the quote form when the aircraft, route, timing, and aircraft status are ready for review.

Most requests involve some combination of

  • Aircraft and pilot qualification fit
  • Insurance and named-pilot requirements
  • Aircraft status and documentation
  • Route, weather, fuel, and timing
  • Pickup and delivery handoff logistics
  • Owner, broker, dealer, shop, or manager coordination

What AFS Evaluates

Service fit depends on the actual mission profile

AFS does not classify a request by title alone. A post-purchase delivery can involve maintenance coordination. A domestic repositioning can become complex if aircraft records, weather, insurance, or aircraft status create limitations. A broker/dealer handoff may look simple but require careful communication around closing, seller release, and buyer expectations.

This is why each service page explains both the customer situation and the planning details behind it.

Common review factors

Aircraft type, pilot qualification fit, insurance requirements, documentation readiness, aircraft condition, route complexity, departure/destination access, weather, timing, handoff logistics, international requirements, and special permit considerations can all affect whether a mission can be quoted.

For accepted missions, AFS can also organize status updates, pilot notes, photos, and document references through the client portal.

How To Think About Fit

AFS service pages are organized around client questions

Each service category answers a different question. “I bought an airplane, can you get it home?” “My aircraft is at a shop, can you help move it?” “Can you work with my broker?” “Can this cross a border?” “What if the aircraft may need special review?” The more specific the question, the easier it is to choose the right page.

For aircraft owners

Use the owner resource path, checklist, and quote form to prepare aircraft status, insurance, route, timing, and handoff details.

For aviation businesses

Use Partner Inquiry if your need is recurring, referral-oriented, transaction-sensitive, shop-related, or connected to clients you support.

For complex missions

Use international, cross-border, maintenance, documentation, and special flight permit pages to understand planning layers before quoting.
